Stealing Partners 30"x20" print

$26.00

Stealing Partners is a social dance from the Chahta (Choctaw) tribe. This dance historically played a role in courtship; this design was made for Valentine’s Day with that in mind.

In the dance, we pick partners to dance with, usually the men going first. Sometimes we pick multiple partners, sometimes even “fighting” over partners. This design depicts that “fight”- 2 dancers pulling at the arms of one person, which is usually accompanied with some screaming, until one decides to let go. Being a social dance, we’ll even pick partners from people in the audience.
